The ICOBTE Conference organizing committee cordially invites you to participate in the scientific and social programs of the 10th International Conference on the Biogeochemistry of Trace Elements. This Conference is a continuation of the very successful ICOBTE series. Recent ICOBTE conferences were held in Austria(1999), Canada (2001), Sweden (2003), Australia (2005) and China (2007).

The 10th ICOBTE Mexico will be organized by:

  • The International Society of Trace Element Biogeochemistry (ISTEB)
  • The Advanced Materials Research Center (CIMAV)

Under the direction of:

  • Conference Chair: Professor Ma. Teresa Alarcon Herrera, (CIMAV)
  • Co-Chairperson for Mexico: Professor Jesus Gonzalez Hernandez, (CIMAV)
  • ISTEB President: Professor Gary Pierzynski, Kansas State University

  • Trace element biogeochemistry and environmental sustainability
  • Trace element contamination, environmental and human health impacts
  • Advances in toxicology and risk assessment
  • Regulatory and policy dimensions of trace element contamination
  • Advances in remediation technologies for trace element contaminated sites
  • New techniques to study the fate of trace elements in the environment
  • Arsenic and fluoride in the environment

Structure of the conference

The Conference will be comprised of plenary lectures, technical sessions and special symposia. The official conference language will be English.

Special symposia

The organizing committee invites proposals from scientists, engineers, policy makers and others wishing to organize special symposia during the ICOBTE Conference. Criteria for Selection of special symposia are available on the web. Successful proposals will be notified by March 2008.

  • October 2007 - Call for Symposia and symposia prospectus available on the web
  • January 2008 - Deadline for submission of special symposia proposals
  • March 2008 - Notification of symposia selection results
  • April 2008 - Second announcement, registration information and call for abstracts.
